A tractor-trailer accident on I-85 at Kannapolis backed up traffic for hours Tuesday afternoon and night.
According to the N.C. Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at the Lane Street exit, a few hundred yards south of the Rowan County line.
The accident occurred around 12:30 p.m.
One southbound lane of the interstate was blocked, backing up traffic until around 9 p.m.
