E'liTax Consultants, located at 600 N. Long St., Salisbury, has opened as a full-service company providing complete tax preparation of individual and business tax returns with filing capability in all 50 states.
The new business also provides year-round accounting services — bookkeeping, payroll and withholding tax for small businesses and corporations. It can provide reports via the Internet on a monthly or quarterly basis.
Valerie C. Patterson is the owner. She attended the University of Connecticut, majoring in accounting with minors in business law and economics. She graduated cum laude from Catawba College with a bachelor of business administration.
Patterson has dealt with taxation issues for 27 years. She is a member of the National Association of Tax Professionals. She is married to Steve L. Patterson and they reside in Mocksville.
Myra Mills is the office manager. She is a graduate of North Rowan High School and attended Rowan-Cabarrus Community College and Central Piedmont Community College.
Mills has a total of nine years experience in taxation and is a member of the National Association of Tax Professionals. She has two children and a grandchild.
Tammy Freeman received her undergraduate degree at Livingstone College in business administration. She received her master's degree in business administration with a minor in human resource management from the University of Phoenix. She has a son.

Classes for business owners
The Small Business Center at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is offering basic accounting and QuickBooks Pro courses for small business owners.
The short courses will take place mid-January through mid-April. The schedule includes the following.
- Basic Accounting for Small Business — 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays, Jan. 20 through Feb. 3, at RCCC's Cabarrus Business & Technology Center in Concord; 6 to 9 p.m. Monday and Wednesdays, Feb. 2 through 16, at RCCC's North Campus in Salisbury. The course teaches the fundamentals of accounting and provides and introduction to QuickBooks Pro. The fee is $50.
- QuickBooks and Your Business: Level I — 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays, Feb. 17 through March 17, at the Cabarrus Business & Technology Center 6 to 9 p.m. Monday and Wednesdays, March 16-30, at the North Campus. Students will learn how to chart accounts, receive payments, pay bills, create lists, track cash sales, enter bills, create invoices, make deposits, reconcile bank accounts and write checks using QuickBooks. The fee is $55.
- QuickBooks Pro and Your Business: Level II — 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays, April 7 and 14, at the Cabarrus Business & Technology Center. This course will cover payroll and job costing features in depth. The level I course is a prerequisite. The course fee is $55.
