Tractor trailer stuck on railroad crossing in Granite Quarry, removed by tow truck
A tractor-trailer was caught on the steep grade at the railroad crossing on Bank Street and South Main Street in Granite Quarry on Tuesday. As the tractor exited the grade, the trailers' front supports came to rest on the tracks lifting the drive wheels enough to break traction. The truck could neither go forward or back the way it came. A large tow truck from Kluttz towing was called in to pull the rig off the tracks. The crossing has been a problem for low vehicles and trailers for many years. The Town of Granite Quarry has been discussing ways to improve the problem. Photo by Jon C. Lakey, Salisbury Post.
