HARTFORD, Conn. — Hasheem Thabeet had 16 points and 12 rebounds and No. 2 Connecticut routed Bryant 88-58, giving coach Jim Calhoun his 780th career win.

Thabeet led five Huskies in double figures. Craig Austrie scored 15, A.J. Price and Jeff Adrien each had 14, and Jerome Dyson added 11 for UConn (6-0).

No. 4 Pittsburgh 57, Washington St. 43

NEWARK, N.J. — Sam Young scored 15 points and Levance Fields added 14 to lead Pittsburgh (7-0) to the Legends Classic championship.

No. 13 UCLA 89, Florida International 54

LOS ANGELES — Freshman guard Jrue Holiday scored 20 points and UCLA cruised to the win. Darren Collison added 11 points, seven assists and four rebounds for UCLA (4-1).

Dayton 89, No. 15 Marquette 75

HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. — The Flyers' 6-0 start is their best since winning the first nine games in 2003-04. Marquette (5-1) was beaten at its own fast-paced game.

No. 16 Xavier 60, Miami (Ohio) 53

CINCINNATI— Derrick Brown scored a career-high 23 points Saturday, and Xavier overcame cold shooting and the loss of another point guard to stay unbeaten.

No. 20 Villanova 78, Rhode Island 65

PHILADELPHIA — Dante Cunningham had 19 points and 12 rebounds, and Villanova beat Rhode Island in the championship game of the Philly Classic.

No. 22 Miami 79, Stetson 65

CORAL GABLES, Fla. — Cyrus McGowan scored 14 points to lead Miami to the win.

Dwayne Collins and Jack McClinton had 12 points apiece for the Hurricanes (4-1).

No. 25 Wisconsin 67, Wis.-Milwaukee 46

MADISON, Wis. — Trevon Hughes scored 16 points and Joe Krabbenhoft added 12 points and 10 rebounds for Wisconsin (5-1).

OTHERS

ROCK HILL, S.C. — Sam Hinnant scored 19 points and East Carolina held on to defeat Winthrop 63-60.

The Pirates (5-1) ended a four-game losing streak to Winthrop, which lost only its 19th home game in the past 11 years.

Western Carolina 71, Northern Illinois 67

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Poor free throw shooting nearly cost Western Carolina another game at the Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout.The Catamounts couldn't close out San Diego State on Saturday night after missing free throws but hit enough down the stretch to defeat Northern Illinois 71-67 for fourth place in the holiday tournament.

Penn State 78, Towson 54

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Stanley Pringle scored 16 points in leading Penn State to a 78-54 win over Towson in a consolation round game of the Philly Hoop Group Classic at the Palestra.

Former West Rowan star Junior Hairston scored seven points and had eight rebounds for Towson (3-3).
