Time: 7:30 p.m.

Records: South Davidson 3-7, 2-4 YVC; North 4-6, 4-2 YVC

Series: First meeting

Last week: South Davidson was thumped 35-6 by South Stanly; North was blanked 28-0 at West MontgomerynNext week: Playoffs for the Cavs; South Davidson has a chance to continue playing as well

Wildcats on the road: 2-3

Cavaliers at home: 2-2

Game notes: South Davidson's three wins have come at the expense of Chatham Central (1-9), North Moore (0-10) and new school Trinity Wheatmore (0-10), so the Cavs really shouldn't have much of a fight on their hands tonight.

Coach Mike Crowell's Wildcats definitely are better than North Moore and Chatham Central. Still, their 61-0 loss to South Stanly and their home loss to East Montgomery make it hard to take their upset chances at Eagle Stadium very seriously. North beat South Stanly and East Montgomery on the road.

QB/kicker Josh McClure, back Jake Edwards and fullback Cody Robbins are leaders for the Wildcats.

For what it's worth, Lexington Dispatch reporter Jake Miller reported earlier this year that six of SD's 26 players were named Cody.

North has zero Codys, but it has Javon Hargrave and Vince Shropshire, and that should be enough.

The most interesting thing about tonight will be seeing how coach Tasker Fleming's Cavs respond to their first adversity in a month. North enjoyed a stretch that included four wins and a very respectable loss at Albemarle, but the Cavs got knocked down a few notches last week when they were stymied offensively by a good West Montgomery club.

This will likely be the last home game for North seniors, including Ge'Air Hendrick. — Mike London

Poll
What do you think of the legislature putting parts of Rowan County in three different congressional districts and two state Senate districts?
  • I like it; Rowan will have more members of Congress and the state Senate
  • I don't like it; it's hard enough to figure out who my congressman is
  • I don't care about politics, so it makes no difference to me
