Monday, July 20, 2009 1:35 AM |

Staff report

Mets reliever Bobby Parnell (East Rowan) pitched a scoreless eighth inning in New York's 7-1 loss to Atlanta on Sunday night.

Parnell got Casey Kotchman and Ryan Church to both ground out to first. Greg Norton and Nate McLouth walked in consecutive at-bats, and Martin Prado flied out to right field.

Parnell lowered his ERA to 4.25. He had a rough outing earlier in the Atlanta series, but he's officially had seven straight scoreless appearances in July.
