From staff reports

Dexter Carter put the Kannapolis Intimidators on his back Thursday night at Savannah in a 2-0 win over the Sand Gnats for a series split.

Carter (5-2) matched his season high, going eight innings without allowing a run. The right-hander maintained his league lead in strikeouts. He fanned nine for a season total to 129.

Brandon Short gave the Intimidators a lead in the second, driving in Dan Black with a two-out double. Jon Gilmore had the only other RBI in the contest.

The series proved to be a battle of the pitching staffs, with the two teams combining for only 13 runs in the four-game set.

Dan Remenowksy got the final three outs, including a pair of strikeouts, for his 13th save of the season.
