WASHINGTON — Tomas Fleischmann scored on a one-timer from the right circle with 1:40 remaining in overtime to give the Washington Capitals a 4-3 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes on Wednesday night.

The NHL-leading Capitals have earned a standings point in 15 straight home games and haven't lost at home in regulation in 2010. Alex Ovechkin, tied with Sidney Crosby for the NHL goal-scoring lead with 44, was held to one assist.

Jussi Jokinen scored his 27th goal for the Hurricanes, who had won eight of their previous nine to climb out of the Eastern Conference cellar. Patrick Dwyer and Tuomo Ruutu also scored. Carolina is the last team to beat Washington in regulation at the Verizon Center, winning 6-3 on Dec. 28.

His agent, Ken Vierra, said in a telephone interview that the tendon is "structurally sound" and Kemoeatu is able to walk and jog but not run yet.

The disgraced sprinter was introduced as the newest member of the WNBA's Tulsa Shock, and she offered no apologies for her steroids use or her time in federal prison.

"The word redemption is not in my vocabulary," Jones said at a news conference, flanked by team president Steve Swetoha and coach Nolan Richardson. "I'm a competitor, I want to play against the best in the world, and I know that I will be doing that."

Jones was the starting point guard on North Carolina's national championship team in 1994. She was drafted by Phoenix in 2003 but never played in the WNBA.
