HONOLULU — The Pro Bowl will be played before the Super Bowl when it returns to Honolulu next year.

The Hawaii Tourism Authority and the NFL announced Tuesday that the game will be played at Aloha Stadium on Jan. 30, the Sunday before the Super Bowl.

The Pro Bowl had historically been played in Honolulu the week after the Super Bowl, but was changed when the all-star game moved to Miami this year. The NFL says playing the Pro Bowl before the big game generated more excitement and interest and was a good kick off to Super Bowl week.

Hawaii is paying $4 million per game to host the Pro Bowl in 2011 and '12.

REEBOK LAWSUIT

NEW ORLEANS — Two athletic clothing makers are having a dispute over the "Finish Strong" mantra adopted by the New Orleans Saints in their championship run last season.

Finish Line LLC is an Illinois-based company that claims it has held the trademark on the slogan since 1998 and uses it in a brand of sports apparel.

It is suing Reebok International LLC over a T-shirt reading: "We Finish Strong. We Are Saints."

Reebok says it was not aware Finish Line existed until it received a letter from their attorney. It says the slogan was already being widely used and reported in the media. They claim it was more of a description than use of the trademark.

Finish Line is seeking all profits from the shirt and unspecified damages.

BEARS

LAKE FOREST, Ill. — The Chicago Bears waived tackle Orlando Pace after one season in which the 34-year-old played little like the All-Pro he once was with St. Louis.

Chicago signed Pace last season as a free agent to help patch up a faulty offensive line, but the fading star didn't provide much help. He started 11 games, missed time because of a groin injury and finished his 13th NFL season as a reserve.

BILLS

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — The Buffalo Bills have signed free agent defensive tackle Marlon Favorite.

What do you think of the legislature putting parts of Rowan County in three different congressional districts and two state Senate districts?
  • I like it; Rowan will have more members of Congress and the state Senate
  • I don't like it; it's hard enough to figure out who my congressman is
  • I don't care about politics, so it makes no difference to me
