Just when you thought there were no more football awards for K.P. Parks to win, well, here's another one.
The West Rowan running back, who led the Falcons to back-to-back state 3A championships, was named Tuesday as the Old Spice Red Zone National Player of the Year.
Parks was selected from a pool of players from 10,000 high school football teams.
As one of the 50 Red Zone players of the year, Parks will be honored in a full page ad in USA Today on Thursday.
The 5-foot-7 Parks was a walking record book:
- He finished his career with 10,895 yards, the best in North Carolina history and the third-most nationally.
- His 55 100-yard games was easily a national record.
- He carried the ball more than anyone in the history of prep football: 1,370.
- He finished with 158 career touchdowns.
Parks will officially sign with the Virginia Cavaliers today.
