ing just before training camp, as well as the early resignation of athletic director Dick Baddour.
The school appeared before the NCAA infractions committee in late October. The NCAA could issue a ruling any day.
Fedora said several recruits told him and his assistants what other schools were saying about UNC’s NCAA troubles. He wouldn’t reveal any examples, saying only that some of the statements were “comical.”
“If you’re an 18-year-old kid or a 17-year-old kid, you don’t know what to believe, especially when you’ve just met this group of coaches and you don’t really truly have a relationship with them,” Fedora said. “For us, it was be as honest as we could, tell them what we know and then let a kid make his own decision.”
UNC’s class featured four receivers, four offensive linemen and four linebackers. Seven players came from Florida, while six came from North Carolina and four from Georgia.
The Tar Heels got a late boost with the addition of receiver Quinshad Davis (Gaffney, S.C.) on Wednesday. Rivals.com listed the 6-foot-4, 185-pound receiver as a four-star prospect along with two other in-state signees: offensive lineman J.J. Patterson (Roanoke Rapids) and quarterback James Summers (Greensboro).
Summers was an Associated Press all-state pick in North Carolina last season. He switched his commitment from rival North Carolina State last week.
In addition, Fedora signed a pair of players — offensive lineman Caleb Peterson (Auburn, Ala.) and receiver Kendrick Singleton (Macclenny, Fla.) — who originally committed to him at Southern Miss.
Tight end Terrance Knox (Concord) enrolled at UNC last month.
