• Humane Society of Rowan County will conduct new volunteer orientation at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, at Goodwill Career Connections, 1923 S. Main St. Persons interested in volunteering with the animal welfare organization are invited to attend.

• Grace Lutheran Church Men in Mission’s third annual fish fry fundraiser to benefit Godstock and Main Street Mission, beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15. Activities include raffles, bounce house, cornhole toss; entertainment by Wayward Reason. Church located at 3020 Grace Church Road. Call 704-857-8641 for more information.

• The Usher Board of Southern City Tabernacle AME Zion Church is sponsoring a fish fry today starting at 10 a.m. Proceeds to go to the Usher Board Anniversary to be held Oct.23. Church is located at 940 S. Long St, East Spencer.

• J.C. Price Post 107 sponsoring “Columbus Day Dance” Sunday, 9 p.m.-2 a.m. Music by DJ “Peaches.” Donation $5. Dress code enforced. Police security present. Door prizes and raffles. Tables available for birthdays. Call 704-633-6484.

• Rowan County Pastor's Aid Union service, 3 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 9 at Fairview Baptist Church. The Rev. Ricky Johnson of Antioch Baptist Church and congregation are in charge of the service. Monday night business meeting 7 p.m. also at Fairview. Host pastor, the Rev. Clarence Marlin.
