- The Military Family Support Ministry Team of the Cabarrus Baptist Association is sponsoring a Veteran's Prayer Breakfast; Saturday, Aug. 29, 8:30-10 a.m., Troutman's Bar-B-Que, 1388 Highway 601 S, Concord. Program includes a short devotion, updates on information for Veterans and their families, and a prayer time for Veterans and active military personnel. - Lilly's Chapel Reading and Math program, free to kids grades 1 through 8. Snacks included. It is run by retired teachers who want to give back to the community. Located at 618 W. Thomas St. (behind Salisbury High School). Registration Sept. 2. Self-supported. Call 704-637-6788 and leave a message.
- Wittenburg Lutheran Church monthly breakfast. 6:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday. Children 6 and under free. Corner of Bank and Oak Streets, Granite Quarry.
