No hung jury here
The verdict is in. John Edwards — former senator and presidential candidate — has topped the list of this year’s “most hated” people in America.
That’s according to the New York Post’s staff, which compiles the “most hated” list each year. The newspaper’s rankings put Edwards ahead of Bernie Madoff (No. 2), Casey Anthony (No. 3), Jerry Sandusky (No. 6) and Paris Hilton (No. 10). However, the New York paper’s readers weren’t quite as vitriolic in their assessment. In an online poll, Edwards was sixth on the readers’ “most hated” list, deemed more loathesome than O.J. Simpson (No. 7) but less onerous than Anthony (No. 1). Most people probably don’t hate Edwards. They’re just tired of this tawdry saga. We can only hope that prosecutors recognize the futility of pursuing the campaign finance case further and let him quietly fade away so that next year he’s a non-factor on everybody’s list.
