Concern for health, concern for nation
Sen. Lamar Alexander of Tennessee spoke on television recently presenting the Republican Party's position on health-care reform and/or expansion. His comments about the national budget deficit warmed my heart and caused me concern over the state of the nation.
His anguish over 40 million Americans without insurance was nonexistent. He didn't mention the Democratic proposal would cover three times more uninsured people than the Grand Old Party plan. He flatly asserted such a program would further damage the economy, one left us by President Bush. His tax cuts for the wealthy and undefended citizens only support efforts to deny all Americans medical assistance.
When resisting national health aid, they argue the Constitution does not include such assistance. Was this nation not founded on "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness?" I am not aware of any extremely ill citizen with repeated medical needs advertising his or her happiness because of cancer, TV or AIDS, etc. If the malcontents insist medical aid provisions are beyond the Constitution, they may consider Jefferson's Louisiana Purchase an action not mentioned in the Constitution.
Dissenters have been subjected to all forms of evidence for how America's economy would be improved.
Pundits such as Lou Dobbs offered information about the success in western industrial nations. Ha! Did you know the majority of Americans oppose the proposed health-care plan? We permit the health insurance lobby to stifle progress, many times with bogus evidence.
The young among us will not consider their health; they're too young. What about their parents whose assets are drained by medical bills? There is a solution: "Logan's Run," a film about a society where citizens were terminated when they reached 35 because their value to society had ended.
Give the American people the insurance coverage Congress gets or reduce theirs to the level of our medical protection.

No denying God
I totally disagree about not being able to prove there is no God.
No other book or religion states more authoritatively how the universe and man were made. Look around you; can you deny the order and form of man and that the universe is under certain laws?
Prophecy is the most and foremost proof of the Bible. Who can tell hundreds of years beforehand how things will come about, from the beginning to the end? Five-hundred years before the birth of Christ, God revealed to Daniel what is to happen, from Nebuchadnezzar to this present time and beyond.
Not one 'i' or 't' is left undotted or uncrossed in this prophecy.
Men are not immortal. They are confined once to die and then have the resurrection. "Hell is the grave." You do not go to a place of torment and torture.
The Bible alone says that there is a second death, and then you will be dead for eternity.
If there was no first resurrection, then man's purpose is lost. If lost, then why have laws and other forms of constraint? It will be survival of the fittest.
I put my faith in God and in his word, the Bible.
