Murder suspect Antonio Marquell Jackson surrendered to Salisbury Police on Saturday.

Jackson, 23, was taken into custody without incident shortly after 1 p.m. and placed in the Rowan County Jail without bond.

Jackson's first court appearence is scheduled for early this week, according to a press release from Steve Whitley, deputy chief of police.

A warrant was issued for Jackson's arrest after a shooting just after midnight Christmas morning at 1024 North Jackson St. left 27-year-old Antonio Jermaine Allen dead from a gunshot wound.

Poll
What do you think of the legislature putting parts of Rowan County in three different congressional districts and two state Senate districts?
  • I like it; Rowan will have more members of Congress and the state Senate
  • I don't like it; it's hard enough to figure out who my congressman is
  • I don't care about politics, so it makes no difference to me
