Break-in at Crescent leads to chase, arrests

Two Charlotte teens face burglary charges after a high-speed chase on Interstate 85 early today.

Officers are seeking a third person who fled from the car after it was stopped at the Lane Street exit in Kannapolis.

Terrence Marquis Nabors, 17, and Briauna Tenisha Miller, 17, both of Charlotte, are each charged with first-degree burglary, felony larceny, possession of stolen goods. In addition, Miller is charged with resist delay and obstruct an officer. Nabors is also charged with possession of a controlling substance and flee to elude officers.

The chase started near the Crescent community off West Innes Street when a homeowner awoke around 1 a.m. to see lights downstairs.

Randy Chandler, of 470 Laurel Valley Way, saw two people in his house and yelled at them.

They ran out of the house and jumped into a silver Dodge Charger.

Salisbury Police quickly spotted the car and chased it eastward on Innes Street to I-85, according to Chief Mark Wilhelm.

The N.C. Highway Patrol joined in the chase with speeds reaching 130 mph as the vehicle headed south.

Efforts to use stop sticks near China Grove apparently failed.

When the vehicle stopped at Lane Street, two of the three occupants were caught. A third escaped, but Wilhelm said he left his wallet behind with an identification card inside.

Nabors is being held in the Rowan County Detention Center under $150,000 bond.

Miller is being held with bond set at $100,000.
