SALISBURY — Rowan County has started foreclosure action against the co-owner of the Okey Dokey & Co. General Store in downtown Salisbury.

The property appears on the foreclosure sale list on the county’s website. Owner Bette Pollock owes taxes for 2009, 2010 and 2011 totaling $9,200, said Tonya Parnell, assistant tax collector.

The county repeatedly has set up payment plans that were not fulfilled, Parnell said. Foreclosure was a last resort, she said, and the county will drop the action if Pollock pays her delinquent taxes.

Pollock did not return phone calls from the Post.

It’s unusual for the county to foreclose on occupied property.
