Woman survives wreck at Fulton and Monroe
SALISBURY - One driver was trapped in an SUV but survived after two vehicles collided today at the intersection of West Monroe and South Fulton streets.
Salisbury firefighters used saws, stabilizing jacks and the jaws of life to extricate Justina D. Woazeah, 33, of Claymont Drive, from a white BMW SUV that had rolled on its side.
Woazeah was able to speak to rescuers throughout the ordeal and was transported to Rowan Regional Medical Center with what authorities said appeared to be non-lifethreatening injuries.
Gavine Pitner, 78, of Wiley Avenue drove a BMW sedan also involved in the accident. Pitner was not injured.
Pitner was traveling south on Fulton Street and Woazeah was traveling west on Monroe Street when the vehicles collided. Both women said they had a green light, said Capt. Sheila Lingle with the Salisbury Police Department.
