RCCC offering personal enrichment classes

Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is offering a number of personal enrichment classes this fall. Whether you are looking to prepare for retirement or if you want to learn how to decorate cakes, you can get the information at Rowan-Cabarrus.

Beginning Yoga (8 weeks): This course introduces the fundamentals of yoga with a focus on proper breathing techniques, relaxation and correct body positions. Yoga is an exercise that strengthens the body and mind through exercises in relaxation and balance. Space is limited to facilitate individualized instruction. Bring a yoga mat and wear loose, comfortable clothing.

Retirement 101: A course designed to increase awareness on retirement planning issues and is instructed by qualified financial planners with real world experience. The class is recommended for individuals approaching, or in, retirement. Retirement 101 was developed with input from educators, financial planners, tax and legal professionals. Retirement 101 can help lessen the anxiety associated with life events such as: a change in employment status, the passing of a loved one, divorce, disability, moving to a new home, or funding college for a child or grandchild. While this course may not be able to increase your employment income, it can provide the knowledge to increase your confidence and ultimately your net worth.

Business Writing for Professionals: A NEW course! Everything you write reflects who you are, your pride in your work and your business skills and expertise. In this short class learn about style, proper sentence and paragraph structure, correct punctuation and capitalization, how to avoid common grammar mistakes, and produce polished, effective documents in a variety of business formats, from emails and memos to reports and presentations. The classes are perfect for realtors, novice photographers or anyone who would like to take better holiday photos.
Students should bring their textbook, camera, storage card, batteries, USB Cables, and manual. The registration fee is $ 100 and does not include the textbook (Welcome to Digital Photography - 2nd Edition, ISBN: 978-1-59136-175-6 or 978-1-59136-065-0).

Jewelry Making: Beading: Learn the art of custom jewelry design. Students will receive an introduction to jewelry making and beading, with a detailed tour and description of items for jewelry making. Students will complete two projects in class. Class size is limited to facilitate individualized instruction.
Wednesdays, Nov. 7 and Nov. 14, 6:30-9 p.m. at North Campus, Salisbury, Building 400, Room 4204.

Cake Decorating: Learn the basics of cake decorating in this hands-on class. Skills to be covered include fondant techniques, buttercream techniques and structure/stacking of cakes. The registration fee does not include all supplies.
