Two Rowan nurses make Top 100

SALISBURY — Two nurses at Rowan Regional Medical Center have been chosen among top 100 nurses in North Carolina.

The Great 100 List annually acknowledges 100 North Carolina nurses for excellence in patient care and dedication to the nursing profession. Rowan Regional nurses Tammy Surratt and Linda Cauble were nominated by their peers and chosen for the award.

They will be recognized with all honorees by a gala celebration in Greensboro Oct. 22.

• Tammy Surratt, a Lexington resident, is a systems analyst programmer for Nursing Information Services at Rowan Regional.

She is responsible for maintaining, educating and improving clinical computer expertise of the nursing staff in all units of the hospital. She has 25 years of nursing experience at Rowan and spent 10 years working in critical care before moving into Nursing Information.

• Linda Cauble is a lifelong resident of Rowan County and a registered nurse on the telemetry unit.

She graduated from East Rowan Senior High School and Cabarrus College of Health Sciences in Concord.

In 1979, Cauble started her nursing career at Rowan Regional alongside her twin sister Brenda, who continues to work as a registered nurse at Rowan as well.

“These individuals have demonstrated excellent care and a commitment to the nursing profession,” Katrina King, chief nursing officer at Rowan Regional, said in a press release. “We are proud of their accomplishments and all they bring to our hospital and nursing care each day.

“Nurses like Tammy and Linda are the reason that patients receive personal and remarkable care at our hospital.”

The Great 100 Inc., based in Greensboro, is a grassroots organization founded in 1988 to honor the nursing profession. It seeks to recognize the vital role of nurses in patient care, have a positive effect on the public image of nurses and the nursing field, recognize outstanding nurses on an annual basis and award scholarships for nursing education.
