A China Grove woman recently won $10,000 in the North Carolina Education Lottery, state officials said.
Donna Beck won the prize in the scratch-off Cash Spectacular game, according to a press release.
Beck is one of a number of winners during July.
Blanca Moreno, a furniture factory employee in Thomasville, also won $10,000 on the Cash Spectacular game. Hoping her luck would continue, she bought two more Cash Spectacular tickets later in the month. She had to check the second ticket multiple times, but eventually realized she had scratched off the $1 million top prize.
“It was a different feeling than the first time,” she said of her million-dollar win. “I was so excited, I couldn’t feel my feet.”
The $1 million prize is awarded as an annuity, which is worth $34,003 after taxes annually for the next 20 years. Moreno plans to use her winnings to take a vacation and save for the future.
As of Wednesday, six $1 million top prizes remained in the Cash Spectacular game, the press release said.
