There’s an old saying that goes, “I don’t know art, but I know what I like.”

Well, Ann Caldwell Cave knows art — she’s the executive director of the Rowan Arts Council. And she knows what she doesn’t like, which apparently includes men’s underwear taped to a window.

The distinction has led to a larceny charge against Cave brought by the owner of the undies.

Clyde Overcash recently displayed the white, size 2X briefs in the window of his Council Street shop, Off Main Antiques and later said in a statement to police he considered it art.

He also said in the statement to police that Cave told him she took the underwear because she was “insulted” by them. Cave said she found the underwear to be inappropriate.

They’ll take the debate to court.

Poll
What do you think of the legislature putting parts of Rowan County in three different congressional districts and two state Senate districts?
  • I like it; Rowan will have more members of Congress and the state Senate
  • I don't like it; it's hard enough to figure out who my congressman is
  • I don't care about politics, so it makes no difference to me
