Heat coming in as summer approaches
Break out the Beach Boys tunes and Bermuda shorts.
Though spring’s not officially over until Wednesday, it’s beginning to feel a lot like summer.
After a high in the mid-80s Monday, local residents can expect temperatures to climb to near 90 degrees today, and the mercury will rise even more — into the low 90s — the rest of the week, the National Weather Service predicts.
On most of those days, temperatures will be a few degrees warmer than the 88-degree average for this time of year. But they won’t approach the potentially record-setting, triple-digit highs that could oppress the Northeast as a heat wave moves into that part of the country later this week, according to Weather Service forecasts.
By early next week, however, we could be looking at sunny skies and temperatures close to 95.
Wednesday and Thursday are forecast to be code orange air days — unhealthy for sensitive groups.
Enjoy the good vibrations. And drink lots of water.
