FAITH — Dancing will return to the streets of Faith on Saturday.
The town's traditional street dance, which began in 1946 in conjunction with the annual Faith Fourth of July festivities, will re-emerge after a long hiatus.
“I’ve been hearing for the last 10 years that people didn’t want to see it go, they wanted it to come back,” Mayor Todd Peeler said. “A lot of people just enjoyed bringing their chairs out to sit and listen to the music and relax.”
Several blocks of Main Street will be closed off starting at 6 p.m. Saturday. Live music by Rowan County’s The Nostalgia Band will start at 7 p.m.
“They play a little bit of everything,” Peeler said.
Peeler said the event is being sponsored by the town merchants, many of which will be open throughout the evening.
