Splash of Color Quilt Show coming this fall to Concord

CONCORD — The Cabarrus Quilters Guild is announcing its 2010 Splash of Color Quilt Show from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 24 and 25 at the Cabarrus Arena and Events Center, 5751 NC 49 North, Concord.

Admission is $4 and parking is abundant and handicap accessible.

This year, the quilters doubled the amount of space to 20,000 square feet to provide for more than 35 local and regional vendors. Vendors include Gammill quilting machines and Statler Stitch computerized quilting system, Nolting quilting machines and Intelliquilter computerized quilting system, Sewing machines — Pfaff, Viking, Babylock, Bernina, Janome, Featherweight, just to mention a few. Lots of quilting fabrics, notions, embellishments, patterns, books and more.

There will be a Silent Auction of quilts, white elephant sale and raffle quilt sales. A portion of the proceeds from the raffle will go to CVAN, the local women's shelter.

A miniature quilt exhibit featuring more than 50 patriotic quilts that capture the essence of "America the Beautiful" by paying tribute to our American heroes and troops will be on display along with more than 200 quilts made by guild members.

This is the first judged quilt show and ribbons will be displayed on the quilts during the show. Ribbons will also be awarded for viewer's choice.
