An elderly Morrison Avenue woman who tried to help someone ended up with her cell phone and checks stolen.
The 84-year-old woman told police that a stranger showed up at her door on Saturday morning and asked for a ride.
She provided the ride. After returning home, she discovered three personal checks missing and a fourth check had been filled out, torn up and stuffed back in the check book.
Her cell phone was also taken.
Reports or charges from May 26 police reports:
- Bianca Koontz, 26, 602 Willow Road, was charged with nine counts of child neglect.
Reports or charges from May 25 police reports:
- A man who called police about being bitten by a dog ended up being charged.
An officer responding to Arthur James Jackson's home on Old Wilkesboro Road checked for outstanding warrants. He found a warrant for Jackson on failure to pay a fine.
He was released after paying the $200 fine.
- A Mocksville Avenue woman told police her neighbor used a stun gun on her. The neighbor told police she was so drunk that when she came across the hall to borrow something for her cat, she fell.
- William Michael Goodman, of Merritt Avenue, reported that he was at a party on Sunday when he asked someone to get a CD from his car.
Later when he went outside, his car was gone.
Reports or charges from May 24 police reports:
- More than $4,000 worth of property was stolen in a break in at Overton Elementary School, 1825 W. Park Road, between May 20 and 21.
- A juvenile vandalized a vehicle at Quality Care Development, 301 Harrell St.
- A Richard Street resident reported a foster child assaulted her.
