Eight Rowan-Cabarrus Community College students have completed additional study to earn safety technology certification from the National Center for Construction Education and Research.

They are:

- Kannapolis: Glenn Foster, electrical technology.

- Salisbury: Bruce Atwell Jr., Octavius Ford and Michael James, electrical technology; Danny Joyce III, Jeff Lentz and Adam Sidelinker, industrial engineering technology

- Lexington: Jason Gray, electrical technology.

The students completed the coursework as part of their studies in RCCC's Electrical Technology and Industrial Engineering Technology programs. The certification requires work beyond the normal classroom curriculum and is recognized worldwide in the commercial construction industry.

The coursework includes hazard recognition, risk analysis, inspections, environmental safety and health plans, emergency action plans, job safety analysis, work permit policies, confined-space entry, safety meetings, accident investigation, recordkeeping, OSHA inspections and procedures, and environmental awareness.

Poll
What do you think of the legislature putting parts of Rowan County in three different congressional districts and two state Senate districts?
  • I like it; Rowan will have more members of Congress and the state Senate
  • I don't like it; it's hard enough to figure out who my congressman is
  • I don't care about politics, so it makes no difference to me
