Hotdogs R Us, a hot dog cart owned and operated by Charles Ramsey, opened for business this past week. The stand is located at the storefront of Salisbury Square Antiques, 111 S. Main St., and is open from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.
The hot dogs are 100 percent kosher beef, and are available with 20 toppings at no additional charge.
Specials include a hot dog, chips and a drink for $5, or one hot dog for $3.50.
Available toppings include mustard (brown, spicy or yellow), ketchup, onions (raw or cooked), green onions, red onion sauce, tomato wedges, baked beans, sweet relish, chow chow, homemade white slaw, sauerkraut, shredded American cheese, homemade chili, kosher dill pickles, bread and butter pickles, salsa, nacho cheese, jalapeno peppers, celery salt, banana peppers, hot sauce, A-1 sauce, black pepper and mayonnaise.
Chips, drinks and bottled water can be purchased separately for $1 each.
Fortner on Fidelity Bank advisory board
Bethany Fortner has joined Fidelity Bank's advisory board in Salisbury.
Fortner is originally from Washington, D.C., and has experience in the heath care industry. She held supervisor and underwriting positions with Mamsi Life and Health and Partners Health Plan. She graduated from Frostburg State University in Maryland.
Fortner is a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, where she has served as Altar Guild Captain since 2007. She also serves as treasurer for the Salisbury-Rowan Symphony Guild and is actively involved with Rowan Helping Ministries, Waterworks Visual Arts Center, Land Trust of North Carolina and Rowan Regional Medical Center. She is married to Dr. Don Fortner.
Fidelity Bank is headquartered in Fuquay-Varina.

Restaurant holding Buy Tunes for Troops
The Texas Roadhouse restaurant in Concord will host a "Tunes for Our Troops" fundraiser Wednesday from 4-10 p.m.
The restaurant will donate 10 percent of food sales on Wednesday toward the purchase of iTunes cards which, along with a bag full of other items, will be given to our military troops. To participate, guests must mention "Tunes for Our Troops" to their server the night of the fundraiser.
You can also donate an iTunes card of any denomination or make a monetary donation that will be used to purchase iTunes cards. Donations will be accepted at the Concord Texas Roadhouse, 7801 Gateway Lane in Concord, during regular store hours now through Wednesday.
Statesville company honored by Firestone
Firestone Building Products Co. recently presented Statesville Roofing & Building Restoration Inc. with its 2010 Firestone Master Contractor Award.
The firm is among 261 commercial contractors presented with the honor for roofing installations over the past year. The award was started in 1988. Throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico, Master Contractor status is awarded based on total square footage installed and outstanding inspection ratings.

Lowe's senior VP speaking at Catawba business lecture
Robert F. Wagner, Lowe's senior vice president of specialty sales and store operations support, will be keynote speaker at Catawba College's Ralph W. Ketner School of Business' fifth Distinguished CEO Lecture Series on Thursday at 11 a.m..
Wagner, a 1976 Catawba alumnus and a member of the College Board of Trustees since 2007, will offer "Small College Values in a Big Business World" in Peeler Crystal Lounge of the Robertson College-Community Center on campus.
Although the event is free and open to the public, those planning to attend are asked to register with Cecilia Stach in the Ketner School of Business by calling 704-637-4405 or through e-mail at cfstach@catawba.edu. A question and answer period will follow Wagner's lecture and refreshments will be offered at the conclusion of the event.
Spring Fling and Summer Camp Fair on Tuesday in Kannapolis
The Cloverleaf Merchant's Association will be hosting a Spring Fling and Summer Camp Fair for the community Tuesday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Cloverleaf Plaza Shopping Center in Kannapolis.
Deejay, Cindy Kay Music, will be playing, and Tim E. Gator from the Kannapolis Intimidators will be visiting from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Cleaning Authority promotes Heggins as certified trainer
The Cleaning Authority of Salisbury, a provider of professional residential cleaning services, has promoted Portia Heggins to Certified Trainer, her second promotion after achieving a Certified Professional House Cleaner certification in November.
She has assisted in the training of most of the employees who work for The Cleaning Authority. She now formally trains all new employees, and trainees may not become a member of a cleaning team until they have passed the program, including all written and demonstrated exams.
Couples attend Carolina Farm Credit's Leadership Institute
Jay and Meghann Moore of Cleveland joined Jason and Robin Starnes of Salisbury in attending the Agricultural Leadership Institute hosted by Carolina Farm Credit.
The 10th annual conference at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville brought together small farmers who are young, just beginning or are minority farmers. It was created to meet the challenges of modern agriculture and encourage the sharing of ideas.
This year's 33 participants were couples or individuals from across Carolina Farm Credit's territory.
The couples were nominated to attend by the staff of the Salisbury service center of Carolina Farm Credit. The local staff includes Carol Campbell, loan assistant; Doris Steele, loan assistant; and Libby Watson, loan officer. The service center is supervised by Gary Hastings, regional lending manager.
Jason and Kristi Gurley, Gold Hill also attended.
The three-day seminar was led by Dr. David Kohl, professor emeritus at Virginia Tech. He focused on the "Mega Forces of Agriculture."
Other speakers included Mike Morton, CEO of Carolina Farm Credit; Dr. Alex White, Virginia Tech professor; Dr. Ted Katsigianis, vice president of agriculture at the Biltmore Co.; Tom Haarmann, manager of financial services with Carolina Farm Credit; and Dr. Michael Hester, director of the Pastoral Counseling and Growth Center in Asheville.
Carolina Farm Credit's territory covers the western half of North Carolina, with nearby branch office locations in Albemarle, Concord, Lexington, Mocksville and Salisbury.
