Cordell 'Cordural' Cowan

An East Spencer man arrested on a trespassing charge also received a felony drug charge after police found crack cocaine in a "private area."

A Salisbury Police Department officer arrested Cordell "Cordural" Cowan, 22, of 511 E. Division Ave., just before 9:30 p.m. Sunday on a charge of second-degree trespassing at the Wilco Hess at 500 E. Innes St.

Once Cowan was transported to the Rowan County Detention Center and searched, police say they found 3 grams of crack cocaine hidden on his person in a private area. He then was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance inside of a jail or prison.

The report did not specify the area of Cowan's body where police said they found the drugs.

A secured bond of $1,500 was issued for the first charge and $10,000 for the second. Cowan was set to appear in court Monday.

Poll
What do you think of the legislature putting parts of Rowan County in three different congressional districts and two state Senate districts?
  • I like it; Rowan will have more members of Congress and the state Senate
  • I don't like it; it's hard enough to figure out who my congressman is
  • I don't care about politics, so it makes no difference to me
