Kevin Eddinger has filed and is seeking re-election to the seat of District Court judge, a position he's held for seven years.
Eddinger, 55, was in private practice for 22 years before becoming judge in 2002.
"I offer my service and experience to the voters of my home county," he said.
Eddinger is a lifelong Rowan County resident.
His experience extends from juvenile law to civil litigation to all phases of criminal law, including capital murder.
"While I have spent the majority of my career in District Court, my experience includes a great deal of work in Superior Court, as well as the North Carolina Court of Appeals and the North Carolilna Supreme Court," he said.
Eddinger said he left a successful law practice because he had, "developed the skills to become a judge and wanted to enter public service."
District Court caseloads are large and taxpayers deserve effective management of the courtroom, he said.
"The issues heard are often life-altering. It is the true people's court. There is no substitute for experience on the bench," Eddinger said.
Eddinger said he knows he can provide the people the skills and experience to promote justice.
Eddinger received a bachelor of arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapil Hill and a Juris Doctor from Wake Forest University School of Law.
"As a certified juvenile judge, I know the true importance of working with troubled youth and abused and neglected children. Issues of child support in a faltering economy and the importance of victim's rights in a constant battle against crime require a fair, even and experienced hand," he said.
"As a life-long resident of Rowan County, the father of two young children, and with the unwavering support of my wife, Liana, I would be honored and privileged to serve another term as district court judge," Eddinger said.
The couple have 2-year-old twins, Michael and Mia.
Eddinger is the past president of the North Carolina 19-C Judicial Bar and past president of the Rowan County Bar. He is also a certified juvenile judge by the UNC School of Government.
Eddinger is a life member of the UNC-Chapel Hill Alumni Association; a member of Spencer Masonic Lodge 543; served two terms as president of Piedmont Players Theatre, with nine years on the governing board; is a former board member of the Adolescent and Family Enrichment Council as well as member of the North Rowan High School Alumni Association.
