CONCORD — An assistant principal accused of having sex with students is scheduled to be in Cabarrus County Court on March 22.

Aaronson Franks, 37, of Charlotte is charged with 11 sex-related counts involving two female students, including one under the age of 16.

Franks, an assistant principal at Central Cabarrus High School, is charged with statutory rape, two counts of statutory sexual offense, three counts of sexual activity with a student by an administrator, indecent liberties with a student and four counts of indecent liberties with children.

One of the victims is a 15-year-old Central Cabarrus student who reported allegations of sexual contact with Franks between October and December 2009.

Franks has worked in several other school systems.

Concord Police began the investigation on Feb. 17. Cabarrus County Schools officials suspended Franks with pay on Feb. 19.

Franks was arrested on Feb. 25. He posted a $60,000 bond. He made his first appearance in court Monday and notified the court he has hired an attorney.

Poll
What do you think of the legislature putting parts of Rowan County in three different congressional districts and two state Senate districts?
  • I like it; Rowan will have more members of Congress and the state Senate
  • I don't like it; it's hard enough to figure out who my congressman is
  • I don't care about politics, so it makes no difference to me
