United Furniture to expand in Lexington

Davidson County Economic Development Commission says United Furniture Industries in Lexington will expand. The project will create 200 jobs in addition to the 150 jobs announced in 2010 with their entry into Lexington.

United Furniture Industries, (UFI) emerged from the merger and acquisitions of Comfort Furniture, Parkhill Furniture and United Chair in 2001. In December 2008, UFI received the exclusive licensing agreement as the U.S. manufacturer of Simmons Upholstery, a resource for microfiber and bonded leather upholstery fabric models.

Today, with more than 2,000 employees and 2.7 million square feet of production space with locations in Okolona, Hatley and Amory in Mississippi, and Archdale, Randolph County, High Point and Lexington, United continues creating a line of furniture including microfiber, bonded leather and upholstery fabric furniture, sofa models, sectionals, chaise lounges, recliners, motion sofas and Hide-A-Bed sleepers.

The expansion is made possible through funding provided by the N.C. Department of Transportation, Thom Tillis, Speaker of the House; Rep. Rayne Brown (Davidson); Sen. Stan Bingham (Davidson); Phil Berger, president pro tempore of the Senate; and United Furniture.
