Rowan-Salisbury School System recently held its 2nd annual Math 24 competition at the J.F. Hurley Y.
All seven middle schools participated.
The 24 game is an arithmetical card game in which the object is to find a way to manipulate four integers so that the end result is 24.
Addition, subtraction, multiplication and division as well as other operations may be used to make four digits from one to nine equal 24.
All teams participated in three rounds of Math 24 including one round of single digit and two rounds of double digit. The final round of play used the variable deck.
The following schools had the top average scores per student:
• 83 — Corriher-Lipe
• 54 — Southeast
• 53 — Erwin
• 49 — West Rowan
The following students won individual honors:
• 1st place — Bryan Stewart, Corriher-Lipe
• 2nd place — Jesse Peterson, Corriher-Lipe
• 3rd place — A.J. Barry, Corriher-Lipe
• 4th place — Jessica Sullivan, West Rowan
