Get to know Jim Cowan
Favorite book:"Flatland"
Favorite movie: "Groundhog Day"
Favorite food: "Anything Americana"
Hobbies: "Sailing"
Pet peeve: "Folks who lack initiative"
Most embarrassing moment: "During my veterinary school interview, a professor asked what I did in my spare time. The first thought that raced through my head was with everything I was doing, I didn't have any spare time. But, when I did have a chance to kick back, with the little free time I had, I would click on the TV. With this thought, I blurted, 'I watch TV.' The comment befuddled the entire panel of interviewers. You could have heard a pin drop. Despite the comment, I was accepted into veterinary school. So, I'm guessing they appreciated my honesty."
Proudest moment: "The birth of our three children"
Laughed the most when:"As a kid, I asked my Dad if he wanted to play '52 card pick-up' just before he and my Mom headed out to a dinner party. He said, 'Sure,' and I proceeded to spill the cards all over the den. I was laughing. He wasn't."
Would like to be remembered as:"Someone who cared about our community."
