Bitzer to speak on ‘American Politicsin 2012’ tomorrow

The Salisbury branch of the English Speaking Union will hold a dinner program at the Country Club of Salisbury on Thursday, Feb. 9 starting at 6:30 p.m.

The guest speaker will be Michael Bitzer, Professor of Political Science and History at Catawba College, speaking on “American Politics in 2012.”

The program includes dinner for $28, and non-members are welcome. RSVP by 2 p.m. tomorrow, Feb. 9, to program director John Larson at 704-637-1532, or Gerry Wood at 704-216-2660.

This will be the first dinner event without the late Virginia Wallace, who was twice president of the English Speaking Union in the 1940s. She and the ladies in the ESU would assemble “care packs” for the troops overseas in the war.

The Salisbury Chapter was started by Mrs. Leo Wallace Sr., her husband’s mother.

Gerry Wood is the current president of the group.
