Home break-ins not deterred by bad weather
Snow and ice on the roads didn't slow down home break-ins across the county last weekend.
The Rowan County Sheriff's Office is investigating more than a dozen incidents, including the theft of a car, a flat screen TV and thousands of dollars worth of other goods from a home on Regency Road in Salisbury.
Robert Edward McCowan reported the theft, which occurred last Saturday between 3 a.m. and 8 p.m.
McCowan's 1996 Plymouth Voyager was recovered, but more than $3,700 worth of property was taken, including guns.
Reports from the Sheriff's Office for incidents or charges on Jan. 29:
- Joseph Steven Owen of 670 Graham Road reported his dog had been shot by his neighbor.
Jeffrey Blake, 41, 750 Graham Road, Mount Ulla, was charged with shooting a dog.
- Roslyn Walker of 209 W. Council St., reported the theft of a 42-inch flat screen TV, valued at $2,000, from a home at 720 Harris Road. Thieves also took a blanket.
- Alvin Russell, 105 London Road, Mooresville, reported the theft of a Skil circular saw, a Poulan chainsaw and two weed cutting devices from a building.
- Reliable Pawn, 107 Mooresville Road, reported that hand and power tools valued at $650 were pawned there.
- James Robert Gobble, 210 Dukeville Road, reported the theft of a bottle tree and 21 bottles from his front yard.
- Andrew N. Silbereisen reported a loose dog caused him to wreck at 3235 Deal Road, Mooresville, and damage his bike.
- Anthony D. Clark, 635 Sloop St., China Grove, reported the theft of $1,800 worth of tools or goods including a Coleman generator, National cutting torch, Craftsman table saw, portable sandblaster and engine stand.
Reports for charges from Jan. 30:
- Channing C. Peoples, 165 Hawkins Loop Road, reported the theft of an Xbox, games and related items worth $1,300.
Reports for charges from Jan. 31:
- Deputies recovered a 1997 Cadillac Eldorado valued at $7,000 from the 300 block of Hannah Ferry Road.
