Students from Rockwell Christian School recently embarked on what would turn out to be a life-changing experience.

For most of them this opportunity would take them to Rowan Helping Ministries for the first time to serve meals to the homeless of the area.

The ministry actually started at school when they helped to prepare the food.

Each of the students had different responsibilities, such as food preparation, serving the meals, supplying the trays, cleaning the dining area and washing dishes.

Emotions were as varied as the jobs ?joy, sadness, guilt, love, compassion, thankfulness, surprise and even shock at the number of young children they served.

But they all agreed that this experience made them more thankful for the blessings the Lord had bestowed upon them and challenged them not to take for granted the things they have.

Several of the students noted the thankfulness of those receiving the meals.

The students went with a desire to be a blessing to those less fortunate than themselves, but came away blessed themselves.

One student summarized the day by saying, “Having the opportunity to impact other people’s lives because of Jesus Christ living in me is the most awesome opportunity I will ever experience in my whole life.”
