SALISBURY — N.C. Farm Bureau will break ground on a new building that will give the agency more parking, larger offices and room to grow, an agent said.

“It’s going to be easier for customers, much easier, and more comfortable,” agent Kenny Seagle said.

The Rowan-Salisbury agency of the Farm Bureau, which sells insurance and advocates for family farmers, will hold a ground-breaking ceremony at 5 p.m. Monday at 1105 Mooresville Road. The public is invited to attend.

The state-of-the-art building will accommodate the agency’s six agents, three customer service representatives, two associate agents and office manager with room for additional staff in the future, Seagle said.

At the current location, just a few blocks away 816 Mooresville Road, some associates work in offices no bigger than a closet, he said.

“They don’t even have room to turn around,” he said.

Every county in North Carolina has a Farm Bureau, and Rowan County has two — one in Salisbury and another in China Grove.

Grading has begun at the new location, which includes the former PMS Firearms building. Seagle said the agency will use the building for storage, and the gun shop will move into the building the Farm Bureau has outgrown.

The agency should move in sometime around the end of May, he said.
