KANNAPOLIS — Scientists at the N.C. Research Campus contributed to David Murdock's latest book about nutrition.
Murdock, the 86-year-old founder of the Research Campus, will sign copies of the book during a private reception next week in Kannapolis.
Several scientists with research programs in Kannapolis contributed to the book, "The Dole Nutrition Handbook: What You Need to Eat and How to Live for a Longer, Healthier Life."
Murdock is the chairman of Dole Food Co. and owner of the Research Campus, where eight North Carolina universities are studying health, nutrition and agriculture.
Murdock will discuss the book, recognize contributors and sign copies at a cocktail reception Tuesday night at the UNC Nutrition Research Institute on the biotechnology campus in Kannapolis.
The book is billed as a comprehensive guide to the proper nutrition needed for optimal health and longevity. Murdock oversaw the creation of the book by the Dole Nutrition Institute, which he founded in 2001.
Dole Food is expected to have a presence on the Research Campus.
Murdock's latest book is a considered a scientific follow-up to his first book, "The Encyclopedia of Foods," which was created in partnership with the Mayo Clinic and UCLA.
