Patrons Ball raises 121,000 dollars

The 19th annual Rowan Regional Medical Center Foundation Patrons Ball raised $121,000 in support of Hospice House.

Under the leadership of Co-Chairmen Tracy and Kenan Smith, "Laughter Is the Best Medicine" was the ball's theme.

More than 200 guests attended the Sept. 12 dinner dance at the Country Club of Salisbury, whose rooms were decorated in comedy themes, from Saturday Night Live to the Marx Brothers.

Bob Hope, Johnny Carson, Jerry Seinfeld, Steve Martin and Lucille Ball impersonators greeted guests as they entered each room. Blues Brothers impersonators entertained guests with a dance routine, while North Tower band drew patrons to the dance floor.

The Smiths and Shari and Bill Graham were the co-presenting sponsors.

Assisting the co-chairmen in organizing the event were Gwin Barr, Lisa Clark, Susan Cloninger, Sara Cook, Blake Evans, Cheryl Goins, Shari Graham, Jayne Helms, Sandi Humble, Carrie Poole, Trisha Proper, Cathy Smith, Mary Beth Smith, Wanda Smith and Lindsay Wineka.
