Rockwell reunion

The Rockwell High School class of 1942 held its 66th reunion recently at Blue Bay Seafood Restaurant in Salisbury. There were 15 class members and four guests present.

Blanche Brown Drew presided. Joanne Kluttz Eagle and Mary Helen Kluttz Shive gave gifts to everyone and held a drawing.

Betty Barringer Honeycutt provided devotions and a memorial for the deceased members and their spouses. There are presently 26 deceased out of a class of 62 members, including three who passed this year: Mae Boger Weddington, Marie Thomason Whittmore and Pauline Hoffer Scott, and also a former teacher, Miss Alice Gordon Gerkie.

Members present were Bill Brown, Carl Euart, Catherine Fisher Steel, Joanne Kluttz Eagle, Mary Helen Kluttz Shive, Blanche Brown Drew, Betty Barringer Honeycutt, Nevada Ludwick Rabon, Brown J. Sides, Ruth Lyerly, Mary Wyatt Carter, Rosa Lee Williams Morgan and husband, J.C. Arey and son, Cecil Fisher and wife, and Mattie Eller Dry and sister.

The 2009 reunion will be held at the same time next year, with the location announced later.

Company reunion

The 58th annual reunion of the 346th Engineer Light Equipment Company was held Aug. 16 at the fellowship hall of Christiana Lutheran Church with 20 present.

The welcome and invocation was given by Carr Peeler.

New officers are: Carr Peeler, president and secretary-treasurer; Gil Russell, vice president.

Those attending were: Jim Wilson, Arnold Peeler, Kinard Fisher, Cecil Fisher, MiltonRuble, Jim Nussman, Harold Corriher, Robert Hartley, Gilbert Russell, Carr Peeler and wives.

Skateboard winners

SkateCity Skate Shop held a "Game of Skate" contest on Friday, Aug. 8, during Downtown Salisbury's "70's Night Out."

Skateboarders took turns performing tricks. The winner was the skateboarder who did the trick that no one else could duplicate.

The winners were first place, Justin Chambers of Cleveland and second place, Taylor Kluttz of Rockwell.
