Celebrate the 4th in Faith

Known as one of the "biggest Fourth of July celebrations in North Carolina," Faith is celebrating their 63rd annual "Faith 4th of July" celebration.

Sponsored by the Faith Civitans, Faith Jaycees, Faith American Legion and the Faith Legion Auxiliary the week long celebration begins June 27 and ends July 4th.

Food booths and rides will open daily at 6 p.m. followed by entertainment. All rides and attractions will be located at the Faith American Legion Park and Faith Elementary school grounds.

There will be performances by Magnum Country, DC and the Chosen Few, Mountain Creek Harmony, Sea Cruz, Too Much Sylvia and many more.

Faith Fourth of July offers a variety of old time favorites including sack, three-legged and piggy back races. There is also a watermelon eating contest and a shoe and egg toss.

The celebration will end with a parade, skirmish reenactment, and fireworks. The parade will begin at the intersection of Deal and Main streets with a special appearance by "Sir Purr."

There will also be a "Faith Idol" competition beginning on July 1st. Age groups are Youth,12 and under, Junior, 13-18, and Open, which is 19 and above.

Armbands will be on sale for $20 each night . The purchase of an armband allows free rides for the night of the purchase. Food will also be on sale by the sponsoring organizations and select vendors will also be available. Entertainment is free to the public.

The sponsoring organizations will use the celebration's proceeds for scholarships, local school and library needs, park improvements and other town or community needs.
