John Crawford (Jack) Keppel and Sophia Rose (Sophie) Keppel, twin children of George and Ashley (Safrit) Keppel, were baptized on Sunday, May 24, 2009, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Cherry Hills Village, Colo.
Pastor Ron Glusenkamp officiated at the service.
Following the baptism, a celebratory luncheon was held at the Lone Tree Golf Club for family and close friends.
Grandparents are Nancy and Bert Keppel from Parker, Colo., Pat (Safrit) Harris of Salisbury, and the late Ernest C. Safrit.
Debutante ball
Debutante Kyaunna S. White, daughter of Keisha D. Drye and Harvey D. White, was crowned 2009 Debutante Queen of the 59th annual Debutante Ball. The event was held on Friday, May 22 at Catawba College, sponsored by the Alpha Alpha Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc.
The Debutante Ball is considered full of rich tradition and a testimony to the national motto of "Finer Womanhood."
The program included greeting from the Basileus Soror Clara W. Corry, talent presented by Keely White (poem), Chasity Williams (dance), Brittany Davis (song) and Sheneqa Suber (praise dance).
Miss Congeniality was presented to debutante Jessica Hague.
The following debutantes were presented by Sorors Natalie Currie and Vincia Benjamin: Dominique Bratcher, Corbin Bennett, Jasmine Craig, and Chasity K. Williams. The members of the Queen's Court include: Keely White, first runner-up; Simone' Wilson second runner-up; Jessica Hague, third runner-up; Sheneqa Suber, fourth runner-up; Collin Holmes, fifth runner-up; and Brittany Davis sixth runner-up.
Brother Raymondo Brady and Brother Timothy Morgan presented the escorts. Soror Barbara Lineberry presented the ladies-in-waiting. Pastor Henry Diggs presented the marshals.
Pre-Teen N.C.
Isis M. Wilson, daughter of Melinda D. Wilson of Salisbury, has been selected as a finalist in the Pre-Teen North Carolina Academic and Enrichment Program to be held July 23-26 at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel in Raleigh.
Pre-Teen N.C. is a by-invitation only academic and achievement event involving young ladies 7 to 12 years of age. The competition is based on academic records, awards and honors and participation in activities.
Wilson is being sponsored by S.T.E. Community Development, Annie Joyner, Jesse Byrd III, Jillian Niles, Nettie Pharr, Linda H. Knox, April Lee, Ernest and Deannia McCauley and Trina N. Moore.
