The piano students of Tina Brown of Rockwell presented three spring recitals. On Saturday, March 21 recitals were for the residents at Carebridge Assisted Living in Mount Pleasant, and the N.C. Lutheran Home in Salisbury. An April 4 recital was given at The Meadows of Rockwell. The recitals featured folk songs, hymns, popular and classical works.

Students performing at Carebridge were: Daniel Pell, Alyssa Hammill, Landon Perkins, Gabi Jolly, Chelsea Green and Sara Johnson.

The N.C. Lutheran Home recital was presented by: Landon Perkins, Alyssa Hammill, Marian Hough, Kelly Dulkoski, Jordan Hartman, Carol Brown and Evelyn Reichley.The following students performed at The Meadows: Gabi Jolly, Landon Perkins, Jace Peeler, Kevin Agner, Alyssa Hammill, Marian Hough, Elizabeth Lee, Taylor Morris, Laura Agner and Rebecca Agner.Yawn Patrol

Yawn Patrol Zone Toastmasters met April 7 at United Cabarrus Insurance. Mike Craig was Toastmaster, and his theme was Ben Franklin.

Toni Stovall was voted Best Evaluator and Best Table Topics and Ken Miller was voted Best Speaker.

The club congratulated Jeff Fearn, who won the Area 34 Table Topics Contest on April 2 in Cornelius. He will now compete in the Division C Contest on April 25.

Yawn Patrol meets on the first and third Tuesday evenings, 7-8:30 p.m. at United Cabarrus Insurance offices, 832 Arbor Street NE, Concord.

Kneeling Gardeners

The Kneeling Gardeners at Trinity United Methodist Church met March 23. Phyllis Craft from Craft's Herb Garden gave an informative program on herbs. A business meeting followed with discussion about plans for the upcoming plant sale, April 25, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at Trinity UMC, 416 E. First St., Kannapolis.

Kiddie Cotillion

The Salisbury Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority held the Kiddie Cotillion on April 4 at Knox Middle School. The cotillion is a fundraiser used to provide scholarships for high school students in Rowan and Stanly counties.

The theme of this year's Kiddie Cotillion was "What a Wonderful World." Little Miss Adrianna Me'Chelle Kelsey, the daughter of Dr. Kimberly Kelsey and Attorney Darrell Hancock is the 2009 queen. Master JerLeel DeAnte Ammison, the son of Anetria Collins, is the king.

Other contestants were Taylor Elizabeth Wiggins, first runner-up, daughter of Mr.andMrs. Morris Wiggins; Sydney Micah Baskins, second runner-up, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.Tony Baskins; India Zyon Hudson, third runner-up, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eric Hudson; Janae Marie Bates, fourth runner-up, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Bates.The fifth runner-up was Kierra Jade Cherry, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Cherry; the sixth runner-up, Kaitlyn Lucille Robinson, daughter of Talatha Robinson and PKale Robinson.

First runner-up for king was Dennis Lamar Rivers Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Rivers.

Other participants were Chanel McManus, Sammitria Pinckney, Noah Allen, Briana Richmond, Katherine Robinson, Micah Howell, JerNard Robinson, Shaquilla Geter, Robert Gilmore, Kayla Turner, Jordan McDowell, Patrice Macon, Josiah Harper, and Jaise Rivens.The talent participants were the Cornerstone Youth Praise Team, The Mime Dancers from Albemarle and Christopher Hester, piano solo.

The Kiddie Cotillion chairperson was Cassandra Brown and chapter president is Yvette Shelton.
