Ray Johnson, pastor of High Rock Community Church, will speak at Calvary Baptist Church, 2255 East Ridge Rd., Sunday at 11 a.m.

Johnson will speak about his experience in a federal prison. Johnson will share how his loneliness gave way to an intimate and closer walk with his Lord.

The Lenoir-Rhyne University A Cappella Choir and College Singers will perform at St. John's Lutheran Church at 11 a.m. Sunday, March 7, as part of its spring tour. The choir will also perform that day at North Kannapolis Baptist church at 4 p.m.

Financial workshop

Phaniels Baptist church in Rockwell is hosting a free Financial Empowerment Workshop Sunday, March 7 at 9:30 a.m. Rodney Ballance, author and award-winning financial advisor, will lead the workshop. Call 704-782-9661 to make reservations.

Antioch Missionary The Senior Missionaries will observe their annual day at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Granite Quarry Sunday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Aundrea Polk, associate of Third Creek AME Zion Church, will speak.

Black History Celebration

First Calvary Baptist Church will hold a Black History Celebration at 4 p.m. today. The program will feature the Livingstone College Theater Arts Department and the First Calvary Music Ministry.The Livingstone Thespians will preview the play "Seven to Seven." Written by Professor Michael Connor, the play focuses on the plight of the homeless.

Prayer breakfast

Rose of Sharon Holiness Church, 255 Camp Road, is sponsoring a Black History prayer breakfast today, beginning at 9 a.m. in the fellowship hall. Cost is $6, with proceeds going to the Pastor's Aid Society.

Gospel Festival

Moore's Chapel, 500 Partee St., will host a Gospel Festival today at 6 p.m., featuring Men Over 60, and the Rev. Annie Duncan.

Ambrose speaks

Dr. Chuck Ambrose, president of Pfeiffer University will be speaking about servant leadership at the meeting of the United Methodist Women at Shiloh United Methodist Church Monday, March 1 at 7:30 p.m.

Women's Crusade

True Holiness Church of God will hold its annual Women's Crusade at 7 p.m. March 10-12 at 7 p.m. This year's theme is "Barren, Bitter, Beloved and Blessed."

March 10, Ruth Davis will speak at Price Memorial AME Zion. March 11, Wythosha McNeil will speak at East First Baptist. March 12, Carolyn Bratton will speak at Moore's Chapel AME Zion.

World of Life program

Word of Life Family Worship Center, 726 E. Liberty St., will hold its annual Black History program on Sunday at 4 p.m. Tracy D. Asbury, associate pastor at Cedar Grove A.M.E. Zion Church in Concord, will speak.

Special music, dance, poems and readings will be offered. Proceeds will go to the scholarship program. For more information, call 704-633-2431.

Haiti fundraiser today

Grace Deliverance Tabernacle, 1413 Walker St.,will hold a Haiti fundraiser today from noon-6 p.m. Fish plates, fish sandwiches and hot dogs will be available. Call 704-637-6510.

St. John's services

Pastor Rhodes Woolly and area musicians will present brief Lenten services of music and meditation during the lunch hour on three consecutive Mondays this month. They will be held in the Chapel of St. John's Lutheran Church, 200 West Innes Street, on Monday, March 8, 15, and 22, from 12:15-12:45 p.m.

The services will include special music by Doug Kearney, Greg Pannell, Joe Gminder, Rosemary Kinard and Rob Durocher.

Spiritual program

Yadkin Grove Missionary Baptist Church on Leonard Road will present a musical program, "The History of the Negro Spiritual," Sunday at 3:30 p.m. The program will consist of Negro spirituals, mime ministries by Unspoken Vessels, poems, skits and an African American art show.

The public is invited and encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to benefit needy families of Rowan County.

Goldsmith speaks

Coach Fred Goldsmith, head football coach at Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, will speak at the 11 a.m. service at Trinity Baptist Church, 735 Klumac Road. Goldsmith was the head football coach at Duke University from 1994-1998.

Pregnancy Support Center banquet

The Pregnancy Support Center will hold its annual fundraising banquet March 25 at the Holiday Inn Grand Ballroom. Carol Everett will speak.

Everett was involved in the operation of four abortion clinics from 1977 to 1983. She has been invited to share her testimony on national broadcasting programs including Dr. James Dobson's of Focus on the Family.

Love Christian Center

Love Christian Center, 102 N. Long St., will have a building fund service Sunday at 4 p.m. Paul Jones, pastor of New Zion Baptist Church, will speak.

Love Christian Center will also begin its Forever Free Victory Class Monday March 1, from 6-7 p.m. The class uses the 12 steps in Christian principles to beat the addictions of alcohol, drugs, sex, smoking or any addiction. Gospel Choir

The Livingstone College Gospel Choir will sing at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church at 4 p.m. Sunday. The theme is "Make a Joyful Noise."

Dinner Theatre

Southern City Church will sponsor its annual Four Seasons Dinner Theater Saturday at 6 p.m. at the Salisbury Civic Center. Tickets are $15. For more information, call Nehemiah Hawkins at 704-433-6838.

Liberty AME Zion

Liberty AME Zion Church in Cooleemee, 271 Gladstone Rd., will host "Faith, Hope and Charity" at 3 p.m. Sunday. The program is sponsored by the Men's Boosters Ministry.

Consignment saleThe Kannapolis Church of God, 2211 West A St., will hold a family consignment sale March 5 from 6-8 p.m. and March 6 from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Oak Grove Baptist

The Pastor's Aide circle of Oak Grove Baptist will celebrate its anniversary Sunday at 3 p.m. Speaker will be Henry McNeil, pastor of First Baptist Church, Kannapolis.

Clothing giveaway

Today, from noon-2 p.m., South China Grove Church of God, 163 Third Ave., will be giving away children's clothing and toys to anyone who needs them. The public is welcome to attend and join the church in a free soup luncheon. For more information, call 704 -467-4555.

Twelve Tribes program

Macedonia Missionary Baptist church will have a Twelve Tribes program at 4 p.m. Sunday.
