The men of Calvary Baptist Church will be sharing during special services this Sunday, at 11 a.m. Gary Basinger, Bob Morgan and Jeff Rone will be bringing the morning message to the congregation in recognition of Baptist Men's Day.
The day will begin with a country ham and egg breakfast for all the men of the church and the community in the church's fellowship hall at 8:30 a.m.
Calvary Baptist Church will have a Super Bowl party in the fellowship hall Sunday at 6 p.m.
Those who attend will watch the Super Bowl on a 7-foot TV screen while enjoying snacks and fellowship together. There will also be a special half-time presentation entitled "Power to Win."
Pastor Rick Cockerham invites the public to attend this special football celebration. Calvary Baptist Church is located at 2255 East Ridge Road.
Black heritage event
EAST SPENCER — Shady Grove Baptist Church of East Spencer will celebrate Black History Month by hosting a Black Heritage Event 3 p.m., Feb. 13, at the Paul Laurence Dunbar Center, 820 S. Long St., East Spencer.
The event will feature well-known motivational speaker Anthony Johnson and also praise dancers from Shady Grove and St. Luke Baptist Church.
The event will benefit the John G. Gaston Scholarship Fund. Donations of $20 for adults and $10 for children under 12 will be accepted at the door.

Deacon alliance
The Rowan and Davie County Deacons Alliance Inc. will be having their annual revival Feb. 7-12.
The revival theme is "Serving Humanity BY Inreach and Outreach Through God's Grace."
The service for Feb. 7 will be held 4 p.m. at Jerusalem Baptist Church. The speaker will be the Rev. James Clement of Fairfield Baptist Church, Mocksville. He will be accompanied by his choir, congregation and ushers. The Rev. David Bracken is the host pastor.
Services for the remaining week will be held at New Zion Baptist Church in Salisbury where the Rev. Paul Jones is host pastor. The services will be at 7 p.m.
Speakers will be as follows: Monday-Pastor William Cowan of New Bethel Baptist Church; Tuesday-Pastor Ricky Johnson of Antioch Baptist Church, Granite Quarry; Wednesday-Pastor Thomas Wyatt Jr. of Dorsett Chapel UCC, Spencer; Thursday-Evangelist Nellie Johnson of Hall's Chapel PBC, Salisbury; Friday- Pastor Paul Jones Sr. of New Zion Baptist Church, Salisbury.
All speakers will be accompanied by their choir, congregation and ushers. The public is invited
Soldiers Memorial
Livingstone College Day will be observed at Soldiers Memorial AME Zion Church on Sunday, Feb. 7, during the 11 a.m. worship service.
All family, friends, Livingstone College faculty and staff, alumni and supporters are invited in support of this annual service to benefit Livingstone College's UNCF drive and the Livingstone Concert Choir, which will provide music for the service.The Rev. Dr. Grant Harrison Jr. is the pastor at Soldiers Memorial. located at 306 N. Church St.
