Fulton Masonic Lodge # 99, Salisbury, held an open installation of officers at 7 p.m. on Jan. 9. It was preceded by a dinner at 6 p.m.

The following officers were installed for the year 2010: master-Scott Teeter; senior warden-Eric Schenk; junior warde-Butch Ochoa; treasurer- James Smith, PM; secretary-E. Bruce Mason, PM, SD; senior deacon-Steve House, PM; chaplain-Jonathan Brindle; Tyler-Joe Simmerson; Marshal-John Smith, PM.

The lodge also presented the following awards: 25 years of service: WB Thomas Webb; 60 years of service: Fred Satterwhite, Charles Simone and Donald Carter; Honorary Mason of the Year: WB Cecil Keith; Mason of the Year – to the member who made the most significant contributions to Fulton Lodge and Masonry during the past year – Joe Simmerson;

Wiley G Morgan Award - to the member who made significant contributions to Fulton Lodge and Masonry over an extended number of years – WB J.C. Hardister.

The lodge recently made donations to the following: Rowan County Masonic Scholarship Fund, Rowan Helping Ministries, Nazareth Children's Home, Friends of Scouting, Salisbury Post Christmas Happiness Fund, Rowan Hospice, North Carolina Masonic Foundation, Ardis Chapel Church.

Pageant winner

Five-year-old Joselyn Mata, daughter of Jose Mata and Reyna Ramirez , has been chosen as a state finalist in the National American Miss North Carolina Pageant to be held July 1 through 3 at the Westin Charlotte hotel.

The pageant is for girls 4 through 6 years old. The winner will receive a cash award and air transportation to compete in the national pageant at Disneyland in California.
