CONCORD — The Shiloh Baptist Church Mass Choir, under the direction of Eddie Brown Jr., will host its 2012 Anniversary Musical Fellowship II today, Saturday, Jan. 28, at 6:30 p.m.

Musical groups featured are: The Voices of Eden Choir, University of North Carolina-Charlotte; The Wingate Community Choir, Wingate; The Anointed Vessels, Charlotte; The Clyburn-Saunders Family and Friends Choir, Charlotte; The Shiloh Baptist Men’s Praise Team and the Prophetic Praise Mimes of the Fisher of Men Ministry, Charlotte.

Shiloh Baptist Churchis located at 255 Logan Ave., where the Rev. Wesley Harding Jr. is pastor.

Hall’s Chapel music

The Pastor’s Anniversary Committee of Hall’s Chapel Primitive Baptist Church is holding a gospel music program this evening, Jan. 28, beginning at 7 p.m. Featured groups are the Mt. Zion Ensemble of Badin; William Jackson of Albemarle; Men Over Sixty of the Carolinas; Shady Grove Choir, Bear Poplar; the Zionettes of Union Chapel; Disciples of Joy; Combination Choir of Mt. Zion Boyden Quarters; Spiritual Voices and 3G of Woodleaf.

Fish, hot dogs, desserts and beverages will be available for purchase.

The church is located at the corner of E. Monroe and S. Clay Streets. Elder Richard Johnson is pastor.

Trinity Presbyterian afterschool tutoring

Trinity Presbyterian Church is offering an after school tutoring program for students in grades 3-8 who need help with homework. All subjects are covered as well as EOGs. Other grades may inquire, especially athletes, for assistance as well.

Tutoring sessions are held Monday-Thursday from 4-6 p.m. at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 300 S. Caldwell St., 704-636-6854.

First Presbyterian

First Presbyterian Church of Salisbury celebrates its children’s ministry through Children’s Sabbath on Sunday, Jan. 29.

At 9 a.m. in the sanctuary is a service of wholeness and healing. At the 11 a.m. service the children and youth will lead, along with The 1st Kids choir, Bell Tower Ringers, Life Center Worship Praise Team and the Sanctuary Choir.

Also, two of the church’s young men will be honored at the beginning of the service when they are presented their Eagle Scout rank.

At noon, Teens With A Mission (TWAM) will sponsor a congregational lunch. A free will offering will be collected to support TWAM’s 2012 Costa Rica Mission trip.

Foil at Liberty UMC

Liberty United Methodist Church will have a praise and song worship service on Sunday, Jan. 29 at 11 a.m. Wanda Foil, local singer and songwriter, will be the guest musician. The church is located at the corner of Stokes Ferry and Liberty Roads.

Spiritual music program at Immanuel

ROCKWELL — The East Rowan Honors Chorus will present a program of spiritual music during the 11 a.m. worship service at Immanuel Lutheran church in Rockwell Sunday, Jan. 29. There is no charge for admission.

The Honors Chorus, under the direction of Dean Orbison, is an auditioned group of 47 students. This group performs throughout Rowan, Cabarrus and Iredell counties and throughout other states in the Southeast. The chorus has given benefit concerts at several community service events.

Consistently receiving superior ratings in the highest level of competition at state festivals, the chorus has also been named grand champion choir in national festivals. Its members have performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City, Lakeland Performing Arts Center in Lakeland, Fla.; and the Greater Virginia Performing Arts Center at Virginia Beach.

Nikki Goodman will also present special music during the service. A member of Immanuel, Nikki is a music major at Wingate University and a former member of the East Rowan Honors Chorus. She will be accompanied on the piano by Nettie Loflin, music director at Immanuel and Nikki’s childhood voice instructor.

Immanuel has had several of its members participate in the East Rowan Honors Chorus in previous years, and currently, Steffi Sides and Taylor Trexler belong to this prestigious group.

Following the service, the chorus and their family members will attend a luncheon given in their honor by the members of Immanuel.

Union Lutheran

Union Evangelical Lutheran Church, NALC, will celebrate communion with the Rite of Installation of their new pastor, the Rev. David W. Nuottila, at 3 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 29. The youth, senior choir, brass ensembe and the Belles & Beaus will participate.

Nuottila previously served as pastor of St. Barnabus Lutheran Church, Charleston, SC. He is a veteran of the US Navy and a former electronics technician at the Charleston Naval Shipyard.

The Rev. Carl Haynes, Carolina Mission Distrct Dean,will serve at the installation. Following the service is a reception in the fellowship building. The church is lcoated at 4770 Bringle Ferry Road.

Oakdale Baptist film

SPENCER — The movie “Courageous” will be shone Sunday, Jan. 29 at 5:30 p.m. at Oakdale Baptist Church, 200 Charles St.

This powerfully moving film is from the same producers of “Facing the Giants” and “Fireproof.” It will be shown on a big screen and utilize a great sound system.

This is an inspiring film for all the family and will challenge fathers to take a more active role in leading and protecting their families.

World of Faith revival

EAST SPENCER — World of Faith Outreach Center is holding a revival this Wednesday through Friday at 7 p.m. Speakers are: Feb. 1, Pastor Bruce; Feb. 2, Bishop Bost and Feb. 3, Pastor Lott.

World of Faith is located at 112 E. Henderson St.

Rodger’s Park

KANNAPOLIS — Rodger’s Park Reformed Church, 704 East 22nd St., will hold a hot dog and dessert sale fundraiser on Thursday, Feb. 2, from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. All proceeds go to church projects, local and world missions. Call 704-932-8301 for details.

Valentine dinner dance

KANNAPOLIS — Kimball Lutheran’s youth group is organizing a Valentine dinner and dance on Saturday, Feb. 4. There will be two seatings, one at 5 p.m. and one at 7:30 p.m.

Southern City dinner

FPU grads

After completing a 13-week series of classes, the fall and winter Financial Peace University class participants at John Calvin Presbyterian Church received their diplomas during the final class.

The program teaches financial principles that are applicable at all stages of life.
