The combined piano studios of Jan Sywenki of Salisbury and Marsha Carter of China Grove performed a Christmas duet program on Dec. 21 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Salisbury.
Students performed on two pianos and electric keyboard when playing a program of Christmas carols and popular Christmas songs.
Sywenki's students who participated were Reaghan Moore, Emily Hammer, Michael and Meredith Stanley,Ashley Wood, Isabella Rusher, Jude Smeltzer, Alex and Elle Wimmer, Tyler Sywenki, Katie Corriher, Paige and Jacqueline Gregoire, Jessica Stevens and Tara Speaks.
Students of Carter participating were Molly and Brittney Burgess, Jeremiah and Matthew McNeil, Rebecca Rousey, Rebekah and Cathryn Lippard, Andrew Poe, Bailey Rodgers, Caitlin and McKamie Harrison, David and Hannah Freeze, Nate Cobb, Morgan Utley, Kim Fesperman, Morgan Bowman, Mary Ashleigh Overcash, Mackenzie Dabbs and Catherine Ardoin.Laura Myers performed an organ prelude and assisted in the program.
Baseball league reunion
Former members of the old Yadkin Valley Baseball League held their reunion recently at Ryan's Steakhouse in Salisbury.
Twenty-three former players and five guests enjoyed fellowship and stories of the good days gone by. Joe Miller presided and the Rev. DonLyerly had devotions, remembering the 30 deceased members, including two this past year: Sidney Blume and Jerry Eagle.
Those present were Tom Eagle, Ron Sides, Terry Fries, Emil Sparger, Frank Starkey, Kip Honeycutt, Jackie Moore, Alan Kearty, Frank Meadows, Whitey Meadows, James Meadows, Harold Graham, Joe Miller, Jake Cauble, Andy Canup,Buddy Patterson, Carl Euart, Carlie Euart, Ron Easter, Ronnie Lookabill, Jimmy Lookabill, Buck Eagle and Don Lyerly.
Highlight of the night was players recalling some of the most memorable events during the games.
The 2010 reunion will be held in November, the date, time and place to be announced later.
